What a year this has been, full of highs for us at Ingentive, and exciting Copilot updates within Microsoft. As we approach the end of the year, it’s time to recap the great advancements and features that were introduced in Microsoft Copilot’s Wave 2 updates. This year has been transformative for a range of businesses that have adopted Microsoft Copilot to enhance their productivity and collaboration within their teams. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights and see what these updates mean for us now and what we can look forward to in 2025.
Copilot Pages – the new digital artifact for the AI age
Copilot Pages was introduced by Microsoft, a blend of generative AI and human creativity. Designed for multiplayer AI collaboration in Microsoft 365, Copilot pages allow you to transform Copilot responses into editable and shareable pages. Some key features worth mentioning include the ability to edit and refine content collaboratively, share pages within Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 apps, as well as providing access to previously created pages through the Pages tab. This new tool aids to enhance productivity even further by making AI-generated content durable and easily accessible for team collaboration.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
This year’s Wave 2 updates have equipped the Microsoft 365 suite with some elevated features across your most-used applications. From Excel to PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook, each enhancement offers unique features tailored to specific business needs, setting organisational teams up for success. We have already seen this having a positive impact on our clients, so let’s dive deeper into each new update.
Copilot in Excel with Python
One of the most anticipated updates was the integration of Python into Excel through Copilot. This feature enables users to leverage Python’s robust data analysis and visualisation capabilities directly in Excel’s familiar and friendly interface. With Copilot’s intelligent suggestions and automation, you can effortlessly create complex models, clean datasets, and visualise trends with just a few prompts. For our clients, this integration changes the game, since it combines Python’s advanced analytics with Excel’s user-friendly environment, making powerful data science tools accessible to a wider audience without the need for extensive learning.
Copilot in PowerPoint
Copilot AI in PowerPoint was upgraded even further, you can now create compelling presentations swiftly with design suggestions, content summarisation, and layout recommendations. Copilot can also analyse input data and even generate slide decks customised for a specific audience or theme. This feature gives you back that valuable time to prepare your approach and messaging whilst it takes care of the rest, ensuring each presentation you produce to share with internal and external viewers are both visually on brand and consistent.
Copilot in Teams
We all know and appreciate Teams, and with the Wave 2 updates, Copilot AI takes it to the next level. You can now gain in-depth meeting insights and automatic discussion summaries, as well as action item identification, and follow-up task generation. Copilot also provides real-time translation and transcription which provides higher engagement, regardless of language barriers or accessibility needs. These improvements allow teams to make more informed and accurate decisions, while AI takes care of the administrative tasks.
Copilot in Outlook
Are you experiencing an email overload? Or maybe you’re struggling to locate that one important piece of correspondence, we’ve all been there. With Copilot’s newest feature in Outlook ‘Prioritise my inbox’ you can now manage your inbox with ease and enhance communication workflows. We see this as one of the quickest wins with our clients since Copilot analyses your inbox based on email content and your role context, for example your reporting structure and responsive threads. It can also generate concise email summaries, explain message prioritisation and highlight key insights. You can now also teach Copilot important topics, keywords, or people, ensuring those emails are marked as high priority. Copilot streamlines email management, making it more efficient and focused, eliminating the need to wade through lengthy messages.
Scaling your team with Copilot agents
This year, Microsoft introduced users to Copilot agents, an AI assistant designed to automate and execute business processes such as handling specific operational needs, providing insights and prioritising security and compliance. These agents operate seamlessly, empowering users to work smarter with timely and intelligent support. Copilot agents are user-friendly, accessible and adaptable.
Copilot agents in SharePoint
Copilot agents have also extended into SharePoint and can autonomously organise files, manage permissions, and ensure compliance with organisational policies. By understanding user intent and organisational context, these agents provide proactive assistance, such as suggesting relevant documents for upcoming meetings or flagging outdated content for review. This feature reduces administrative load and allows your team to focus on high-value activities.
